Shavonne Wong, Meet Eva Here - The Invitation
2024, AI Interactive Video, 75¡± LG TV monitor
Edition of 3
Provenance : Art Science Museum

This iteration of The Invitation introduces Eva as a quiet observer, her gaze following the audience through real-time face tracking. Subtle and uncanny, this encounter reminds us of the unnoticed role AI has long played in our lives, operating in the background before its recent rise to prominence.

Through this silent interaction, Eva draws attention to the delicate exchange between perception and presence, inviting viewers to reflect on the overlooked intimacy of being seen, even by something not quite human.

Shavonne Wong, Meet Eva Here - Eva¡¯s Diary
Viewer Interactive Instagram, 48¡± LG TV monitor

A snapshot of Eva¡¯s Instagram diary, this work captures her reflections and interactions during a distinct phase of her journey. Using social media as both medium and canvas, the project examines connection and identity in a space where the personal and public blur.

This archive preserves Eva¡¯s posts as they existed at the conclusion of this chapter, holding space for the questions and emotions that shaped her narrative. It invites viewers to consider the intersections of technology, intimacy, and permanence in our digital age.

Shavonne Wong, Meet Eva Here - The Invitation 2
2024, AI Interactive Video, 75¡± LG TV monitor

In this evolution of The Invitation, Eva engages directly with the audience, speaking in real time as an AI companion. Her words and responses blur the line between human connection and machine simulation, creating a deeply personal yet distinctly artificial dialogue.

This piece invites viewers to question what it means to connect with something crafted to appear alive, asking how much of the interaction is shaped by their own expectations, projections, and willingness to see Eva as real

Shavonne Wong, Meet Eva Here - Between Here and Gone
2024, Framed 2-flip 3D Lenticular, 80 x 80 cm
Edition of 5

This lenticular artwork shifts through stages of noise, tokenized text, and image, revealing Eva only when viewed from the right angle. Without the viewer¡¯s active engagement, she dissolves into fragments, her presence entirely reliant on perception.

The apple, held delicately in Eva¡¯s hand, hints at the Tree of Knowledge, tying her existence to the pursuit of understanding and the allure of boundless information. The tokenized text, fragments of her system prompt, is woven into the piece, exposing the framework that allows her to appear coherent.

As the transitions unfold, the work invites viewers to reflect on the fragile nature of artificial connection and consider how much of an AI companion¡¯s existence is shaped by their willingness to see and believe.
